To avoid typical disadvantages of a conventional semi-spade rudder, Becker Marine Systems has developed the so-called KSR (KING SUPPORT RUDDER) bearing concept. With this arrangement the rudder trunk is continued into the rudder blade so that the main neck bearing is positioned close to the centre of pressure of the rudder. This results in reduced stresses and bending moments in the rudder blade.

The resulting reaction forces in the neck and carrier bearings are much smaller with a KSR supported rudder. The natural frequency of the rudder is remote from the natural frequency of the propeller, so that resonance is never possible. Vibrations are reduced to a minimum. With this design we are unlimited in size for all our rudders.
